What do you think?
A reader of my blog recently asked me, “How do we best prevent new invasive species from entering our water ways? What would be your ideal solution?”
What is your response to Danielle’s question? I invite you tell me what you think would be most helpful reducing the AIS problem.
Here are a few ideas to get you thinking:
- Last week I described how commerce in the aquarium and water garden trade brings many aquatic invasive species into North America from around the world, enabling them to escape and cause major problems. Would stronger laws against such trade be a solution?
- A strong lake advocate argues that the best way to beat the invasives is to put intense pressure on our legislators to be more aggressive on the invasives issue.
- Some argue we need much greater funding to beat the invasives.
